1.) I plan to finish the piece by glazing the box itself with a light blue glaze. Once fired I will paint the Lilly pads and the lotus flower with acrylic paint to show the details better. Lastly I plan to paint over the glazed finished piece and paint in some flower carvings on the side of the box.
2.) So far I have found it difficult to blend the sides in the box and make the sides of the box nice and clean cut. 3.) So far though, I have been successful at cutting and shaping the lotus flower on top because it was easy to shape the petals and bend them into an open flower shape. 4.) We started off with a slab of clay that we cut into the template of our desired box. Once that was done we stuck the pieces together by slipping and scoring the piece. Then, the piece was fired until it was done and it turned white.
