1.) My favorite medium was acrylic paint because the medium was easy to blend and if you made a mistake, it was easy to go over it and start fresh. 2.) My least favorite medium was the colored pencils because I found it really hard to blend it and make the little white spots go away to create a smooth finish on the sphere. This is the monochromatic painting that I did of a photo I took of the Hogwarts castle in Harry Potter World. It was made completely with different shades, tints, and tones of purple. My favorite warm-up we did this unit was the color swatch warm-up because it taught me how to mix colors better which came in handy when I had to create the castle walls and the trees and I couldn't find the right shade.
1.) It was hard to mix paint with color swatches because you have all the right shades of primary colors in order to make them match the swatches and also you can't make a color brighter. 2.) I made the different brown swatches by mixing all the primary colors together and then making it lighter by adding white and black. 3.) I chose to paint the Hogwarts castle because I thought it would be really fun to paint all the castle details but it was a lot more work than I expected it to be. Overall, I am very satisfied with the end result of my work, it really resembles the photo I took. 1.) The most helpful warm-up was the pen cubes because it was great to have many techniques with which to create a pen drawing with such different textures in an object like this flower pot.
2.) Composition- the placement or arrangement of elements in a work of art. Value- element of a design that defines the lights and darks in an artwork. 3.) Pros and Cons of each medium Pencil + : -easy to use -doesn't smudge too easily -easily accessible Pencil - : - not permanent and will wear away with time if not sealed -harder to create value with Charcoal + : - easy to blend -very dark -easy to eras Charcoal - : -messy -easily smudged -hard to create fine detail with Pen + : -looks cleaner -permanent Pen - : -can't erase mistakes -time consuming to add value ( especially with stippling) This is a picture of the three complimentary colors and three of their shades which my group attempted to recreate by mixing in class. The ones on the bottom are three different browns we mixed.
My favorite artist is Kristina Webb. She is 16 years old and she is from Tauranga, New Zealand. She started drawing when she was 2 and she started drawing because she wanted to inspire people. She is my favorite artist because she is really talented and reminds me that just because we are young, it doesn't mean we can't make a difference or send a message.
